Established in 1984, High Country Landscaping is one of Whistler’s longest standing companies and one of the most experienced and qualified landscape builders and renovators in the Sea to Sky Corridor. The original founders and horticulturists, Karen and Rose, are still part of the team. The core construction crew members have been working with the company for over 20 years and the maintenance foreman for over 10 years.
In 2020 there was a shift in the ranks as Chris Hamilton, co-founder of AC Stonescapes and an incredibly talented designer and builder of both hardscapes and soft landscaping, merged into High Country Landscaping. The same year also witnessed a transition from employee to employer when Phil Guibert, took the opportunity to join ownership ranks. Phil is one of the top professionals in the field of softscape installations and driveway paving.
Pride Projects
Since the 1980’s they have been installing, renovating and maintaining landscape on both commercial and residential properties. Installations of some larger complexes include Blackcomb Greens, Forest Ridge, Fitzsimmons Walk, The Legends and Nita Lake Lodge. Commercial installs include the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre, The Audain Art Museum, the Rainbow Commercial site and recently some new residential estates in Squamish. Every Whistler subdivision has seen the crews working hard. Nicklaus North had them busy back in the day and then Rainbow, Baxter Creek and WedgeWoods. More recently, larger residential installs include Estate Homes in Stonebridge and Kadenwood and Estates in Pemberton. And of course many of these homes and commercial properties are still maintained by our gardening crews keeping them tidy as the landscape develops.
BUILDING GARDENS + TEAMS
With an amazing team, no project is too big or too small. Aided by dump trucks, skidsteers and mini excavators, the construction crews have tools they need on hand to complete a wide range of jobs including paving, rock walls, fire pits, decks, lawns, and of course planting. From larger estates to humble home gardens and townhouse complexes, dedicated gardening crews maintain a wide variety of properties on a weekly basis taking care of mowing, pruning and weeding etc. Flowers and shrubs and beautiful planter displays are all in the eye and hands of a creative planting team working closely with the source at High Country Garden Shop. Collectively all of these people are the heart of High Country Landscaping.
